POLAND - Dwight E. Weeks, Jr., 85, of Spitler Road, died Tuesday afternoon at his residence.


Mr. Weeks was born March 21, 1924 in White Cottage, OH, a son of Dwight E. Sr., and Belva Miller Weeks, and moved to Poland as a child.

He was a 1942 graduate of Poland Seminary High School.

Dwight first was a farmer, working on his family farm in Poland which is now a development off of Spitler Road.

He worked at the Youngstown Sheet and Tube, in Property Protection and later in the maintenance department of LTV where he retired in 1981. He had also worked at the Poland Post Office for 2 years, and in addition to Youngstown Sheet and Tube and LTV, Dwight was a part-time staff member for the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home. He was a member of the Poland United Methodist Church where he was the custodian. Dwight was on the Poland Volunteer Fire Department and was a life long member of the Mahoning Sportsman Club.

He leaves his wife of nearly 64 years, the former Hilda Crum, whom he married September 20, 1945; one daughter, Pat (Bob) Johnston of Lake Milton; two sons, Tim (Kim) Weeks of Washington, Mich., and Tom (Tina) Weeks of Almont, Mich.; one sister, Isabelle Waelde of Newcomerstown; two grandchildren, Joey and Chrissy Weeks; two nephews, Jake Bowmaster and Robert Waelde; and one niece, Shirley Stevenson.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at the Poland United Methodist Church at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Poland Riverside Cemetery.

Family and friends will be received Friday from 5-8 pm at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Poland and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at the church.
