Canfield - Duane Wilt, 75, of Greenford, was summoned to his heavenly home after a brief illness on Saturday, February 15, 2025.
Duane was surrounded by his loving family, his wife of 54 years, the former Retta Wilson; sons, Wayne (Shawna) of Greenford, Robert (Lana) of Leetonia, and Jason of Greenford; his grandchildren, Jayli, Ellie, and Jack, and Jayli's mother, Suzi Bieber; as well as his brother, Joe Pekins Jr. of Poland.
Duane was welcomed to heaven by his parents, Carl and Velma Wilt; his stepfather, Joe Perkins Sr.; sisters, Janet Wilt and Dorothy Dalberg; and two infant siblings, Wayne and Loraine.
Duane was a lifelong resident of Greenford, graduating from Greenford High School in 1967. After high school, Duane became a Union Carpenter Local #171 and worked for Perkins Builders for over 40 years. He loved to drive around town showing his family all of the houses that he had built over the years. Duane was also an avid Civil War history buff. He never turned the channel when a historical documentary was on TV and could recite facts about every battlefield. He was a member of the Mahoning Valley Civil War Roundtable.
Over the years, Duane had been active in the Boy Scouts and coaching baseball with his sons and is a current member of the Greenford Ruritan.
Duane was a member and deacon of Struthers Baptist Tabernacle for over 50 years and after its closing moved to Heritage Baptist where he became Deacon. Duane loved to teach Sunday School, share the Word and sing a good old Gospel hymn.
