Duane Randall Holloway, 91 Boardman- Duane Randall Holloway, son of Genevieve Randall Holloway and Benjamin Harrison Holloway died on November 6, 2006. Mr. Holloway was born April 7, 1915 in Cleveland, Ohio. He had one sister, Dorothy, who passed away many years ago. He spent his early years in Austintown, where he went to Fitch High School. He played basketball there, graduated, and attended Ohio Wesleyan University where he was a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity. Duane returned to Youngstown and began working at American Optical, carrying on the profession his father had chosen. He became manager and later opened Holloway Optical in the Wick Building. During World War II, he started a program in the area which provided returning veterans with a pair of glasses. June 1, 1938 he was married to the former Esther Juanita Bell who preceded him in death on September 10, 2005. He is survived by his daughter Susan Holloway of Poland, OH, and several nieces and nephews and their children. Duane was active in the Rescue Mission for many years and served on the board. He was a member of the Wick Lodge F&AM # 481 formerly the Hillman Lodge, and the Poland Breakfast Club. He was a member of the Christian Business Men and belonged to a retired menâa�a��s social group called âa�A"Chatterbox.âa�A� He was a member of Bethel Friends Church in Poland and attended the First Covenant in Boardman. He enjoyed yard work, collecting coins, stamps, and miniatures. He liked the outdoors and spent a great deal of time appreciating nature. Duane was a respected and well-liked man in the community. He had a deep faith, was kind and gentle, and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Funeral services will be Saturday, 11:00 AM at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Poland. Friends may call Friday from 5-8 PM and Saturday from 10:00 AM until 10:45 AM at the funeral home.
