Struthers - Drusolina "Daisy" M. Annichine, 97, of Struthers, died Wednesday morning, June 29, 2011 at Assumption Village.
Mrs. Annichine was born November 30, 1913 in Italy, a daughter of Donato and Lucia Tiani Gentile. At the age of six months, she came to the United States and has been a life-long area resident.
She was a 1930 graduate of Struthers High School. Mrs. Annichine worked as a cook at Forum Health Northside Medical Center. She also worked cleaning several buildings in the area, including the DeBartolo Building through the Columbus Cleaning Service, Ursuline High School, and eventually retired from the Struthers Board of Education as a matron at Sexton Street School.
Mrs. Annichine enjoyed baking and cooking, sharing her wonderful homemade bread, fried dough, and other goodies with her family and friends. She also enjoyed gardening and crocheting, making afghans, hats, scarves, and slippers for her grandchildren. Mrs. Annichine also had a great love for the Lord and spent much of her time studying the Bible over the years.
She leaves four daughters, Mary Lou (Paul) Skoloda, Emilie Yemma, Lucy (Lewis) Bezjak, all of Struthers, and Diana (Pat) Carney of Boardman; son, Michael (Janet) Annichine of Poland; brother, Dan Gentile of Arizona; 19 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Frank "Sonny" Annichine, Sr.; six sisters, Mary Rimedio, Madeline Russo, Violet Marando, Anita Andreano, Angeline Cmil, and Lillian Kology; and four brothers, James, Larry, Frank, and William Gentile.
Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Poland with Pastor Rusty Wills officiating. Interment will follow at Poland Riverside Cemetery.
Family and friends will be received Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. and Wednesday from 10-10:45 a.m. at the funeral home.
