Dorothy "Dorie" Ann Malmfeldt

Poland - Dorothy "Dorie" Ann Malmfeldt, 69, passed away on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at Hospice of the Valley's Hospice House with her family by her side.

Dorothy, affectionately known as "Dorie," was born January 29, 1949 in Youngstown, a daughter of Herman and Marie (Korda) Wiesensee.

She attended Cardinal Mooney High School and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School. Dorie went on to receive her bachelor's degree in education and art from Youngstown State University. She briefly worked as a teacher before taking a position as a toll collector with the Ohio Turnpike, retiring after 32 years of service.

In her free time, Dorie enjoyed cooking, making crafts, reading, visiting the Poland Library, crossword puzzles, and watching her favorite television show the Golden Girls and the Hallmark Channel.

Dorie is survived by her son, Justin (Rachel) Malmfeldt of McLean, VA; daughter, Jessica Malmfeldt of Poland; brother, Charles "Buddy" Wiesensee, Sr. of Youngstown; granddaughter, Christian Parks; three nephews, Ron (Diane) Galterio, Michael (Denise) Galterio, and Carl (Mitzi) Galterio; niece, Candice Wiesensee; and several great nieces and nephews that she loved very much.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Justine Parks; brother, Herman "Johnny" Wiesensee; and sisters, Mary Lou McCormick and Gertrude Galterio.

A memorial service celebrating Dorie's life will be held on Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, 270 N. Main St., Poland, where family and friends will be received on Sunday from 1-2:45 p.m., prior to the service.

In honor of Dorie's love for animals, especially "kitties," memorial tributes can be made in her name to New Lease on Life, 2773 Midlothian Blvd., Struthers, Ohio 44471.
