Boardman

Dorothy L. Voitus, 89 of  Boardman, died Monday afternoon February 18, 2019 at the Hospice House in Poland. She was born July 21, 1929 in Youngstown, Ohio, a daughter of Herbert and Janet (McMillin) Duncan and had been a lifelong area resident.

She was a graduate of Rayen High School and had worked for Mahoning Bank and Farmers National Bank, both for several years. Dorothy has attended Holy Family Church in Poland and Boardman and Canfield Christian Churches.

An avid knitter, Dorothy was a member of the Western Reserve Knitting Guild for thirty four years. She traveled to knitting conventions around the United States and had held positions as president for two years and treasurer for two years. From her knitting, she won ribbons at the Canfield Fair Arts and Crafts for sweaters she had made. Dorothy had also taught knitting at the Boardman Library. She was also an avid reader always having her knitting and a book in her possession. She was also a member of the Bear's Social Club of Youngstown.

Her husband, John E. Voitus, whom she married April 21, 1951 died in 1993.

She leaves two sons, Ronald (Nancy) Voitus of Columbiana, Ken Voitus of Poland; three daughters, Patricia (Blaise) Stanton of Poland, Cheryl (Mark) Makoski of Poland, and Virginia Voitus of Pell City, AL; a daughter-in-law, Debra Voitus of Columbiana; fourteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren..

Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Dale Voitus; a daughter, Beverly Voitus.

Services will be held at 11:00 am Friday February 22, 2019, at the Davis-Becker Funeral Home in Boardman with Pastor Jeffrey Mincher officiating. Friends may call from 5-7:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
