Struthers - Dorothy J. Ramsbottom, 82, of Struthers, died Thursday afternoon at St. Elizabeth Medical Center. Dorothy was born September 7, 1926 in Youngstown, a daughter of Elden and Ruth Young and was raised in Dilltown, Pennsylvania before returning to this area in 1944. A 1944 graduate of Armagh High School, Dorothy worked as a secretary for 5th Street Elementary School in Struthers for 19 years, retiring in 1991. She had previously worked for Ohio Bell for 10 years. She was an active member of the Struthers Presbyterian Church, where she served as moderator for both the Deacons and the Women's Association, was a member of the Gioras Sunday School Class, where she chaired the Swiss Steak Dinners, and was a former Sunday school teacher. Dorothy volunteered her time serving the weekly Rotary Club Lunch and was inducted as a life-time member and Woman of the Year for the Struthers PTA in1982. Besides her husband, Bradley Ramsbottom, whom she married March 12, 1955, Dorothy leaves one daughter, Barbara Barone of Poland; three sons, David (Anita) Ramsbottom of Plano, TX, Jon (Lori) Ramsbottom of Struthers, and Robert (Mary) Ramsbottom of Poland; four sisters, Marian Cornell of Canfield, Dolores Pfenninger of Macungie, PA, Betty Kresko of Johnstown, PA, and Joanne Houser of Dilltown, PA; ten grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Dorothy was a kind and gentle woman who touched many lives. She had tremendous faith and read her devotions every morning. Dorothy loved to read, traveled extensively and enjoyed all the family's events. She loved her family and friends and was a very devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Besides her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by two brothers, William and John Young. Funeral services will be Monday at 10:00 a.m. at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home in Struthers with Rev. Steve Breazier officiating. Interment will follow at Lake Park Cemetery. Friends will be received Sunday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
