Struthers
Struthers-Dorothy J. Maletsky, 80, of Struthers, passed away Thursday, May 23, 2024, at home surrounded by her family. She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Andrew Maletsky.
Born January 17, 1944 in Youngstown, she was a daughter to the late Steve and Mary (Duraney) Ceplece.
Dorothy was a 1961 graduate of Struthers High School. She met her husband Andy at the Krakusy Hall doing the one thing they both enjoyed, dancing. The two were then married in 1963 and later welcomed their two daughters. She would spend the next several years raising their daughters in a warm, loving home. Once her daughters were older, she decided to go to work for Giannios Candy in Struthers for over 15 years, where she would often bring home many sweet samplings for her family to enjoy. They were then blessed with their grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She enjoyed the many beautiful moments with Andrew, whether that was going on car rides to enjoy the scenery, collecting antiques, especially Isaly’s bottles or on the dance floor showing off their moves in the Jitterbug, Cha-cha, and Polka dancing and the occasional slow dance. There was no doubt their love for each other was limitless.
Dorothy enjoyed the simple pleasures of planting her beautiful flowers, swimming in her pool, and hosting her family. Above all, she cherished her moments of being a loving wife, mother, grandma, and great-grandma.
In addition to her husband Andrew, she leaves behind her daughters, Andrea (Frank) Naples of Poland and Lisa (Michael Evans) Davis of Niles; grandchildren, Christopher (Jessica Mullen) Swantner and Nathan Davis; great-grandchildren, Blaise Swantner and Jace Swantner; nieces, Denise Wuchnic and Michelle Wuchnic.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Nancy Jean Ceplece, Frances Wuchnic, and Louise Paulsey; brothers-in-law, Ron Wuchnic and Ben Pauley; and infant nephew David Wuchnic.
In keeping with her wishes, services will be private to the family.
The family would love to thank Southern Care Hospice for their wonderful care of Dorothy during this time.
Arrangements are entrusted to Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, Struthers.
