Dorothy J. Kolaskos

Youngstown - Dorothy J. "Dottie" Kolaskos, 71, passed away on September 8, 2024 at her home. 

She was born October 14, 1952 in Youngstown, a daughter of the late William and Virginia (Swanson) Barnett. She graduated from Austintown Fitch High School. She spent many years raising her children, but later in life worked for Bob Evans for almost 20 years. 

Dottie was a kindhearted and resilient woman, known for her boundless energy and infectious joy. As a proud MeMe, she adored her children and grandchildren, always cherishing the moments spent with them. Her inquisitive nature made her a curious soul, constantly learning and engaging with the world around her. She was the life of every gathering, bringing fun and laughter wherever she went, and her presence was one that people gravitated toward. A hard worker at heart, she never hesitated to lend a helping hand, giving freely of her time and care without expecting anything in return. Her warmth, generosity, and love left a lasting impression on all who were lucky enough to know her.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her children, Christopher Kolaskos of California, Angela (Ron) Blinsky of Poland, and Michelle Kolaskos of Austintown; her beloved grandchildren, Jacob Vince, and Ava, Aubrey, Ali, and Evan Blinsky; her brothers, Dennis Barnett of Austintown and Bill (Aimie) Barnett of Austintown; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Pete Kolaskos, whom she married October 2, 1976, and who passed away July 3, 2020; her stepmother, Margaret "Peg" Barnett; and a brother, Dave Barnett.

Friends will be received on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Poland, followed immediately by a celebration of her life beginning at 6:00 p.m.
