Dorothy Jean Bauman Gungle, 81 POLAND âa�" Dorothy Jean Bauman Gungle, 81, died early Wednesday morning at Hampton Woods Rehabilitation Center. Dorothy Jean, affectionately known as âa�A"Dot,âa�A� was born Aug. 16, 1927 in Clayton, Mo., a daughter of William D. and Marie E. Heisch Bauman. She was raised in Western Pennsylvania and Columbus, and lived in Danvers, Mass. for 43 years, before moving to Poland 14 years ago. A 1945 graduate of North High School in Columbus, Dorothy went on to receive her bachelor of science degree in 1949 from the Ohio State University, where she worked as a medical technologist for two years. Dorothy was an active member of the Poland United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Seekers Sunday school class, Tuesday Morning prayer group, and the Mary Martha Circle. She served on the pastor parish committee and was a Lay delegate to the East Ohio Annual Conference. Dorothy was a former member of the Holy Trinity United Methodist Church in Danvers, where for a time, she was president of the United Methodist Women and a Lay delegate to the Southern New England Conference of the Methodist Church. She was also a former member of the United Methodist Church in Salem, Mass. Her love of family and Christian commitments were the main focus of her life and no matter where she was, getting to church and being in the company of other Christian people was of top priority. Dorothy was an avid reader and bird watcher. Dorothy loved the Sonoran Desert around Tucson, Ariz., where she often visited her children. Besides her husband, Warren Calvin Gungle, whom she married Sept. 11, 1949, Dorothy leaves her children, Patricia Lynn (Kyle) Gillett and Bruce (Carolyn Campbell) Gungle, all of Tucson; and three grandchildren, Susan R. Evans, Martha E. Evans, and Christopher M. Gillett. Besides her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by two infant daughters, Sarah Jean and Carol Ann. Funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the Poland United Methodist Church. Friends may call Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Poland and Monday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. The family requests memorial tributes be made to the Poland United Methodist Church or the Holy Trinity United Methodist Church in Danvers.
