DOROTHY W. DAVIDSON, 98
CANFIELD -- Dorothy W. Davidson, 98, passed away Monday, March 5, 2012. She was born in the Pittsburgh area, a daughter of John and Emma (Friend) Wright, a graduate of Grove City College, Dorothy taught social studies students for a year, then married Robert G. Davidson, moving to Youngstown to become a homemaker and mother of two. She later moved to Boardman and then Niles, a long-time area resident.
Dorothy was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, nurturing, practical, patient, and kind. She served Central Christian Church as an Elder and Deaconess and volunteered for the PTA and scouts. Dottie was always sewing, learned to oil paint, and baked excellent peach pies. She loved the Atlantic City of the 50's, Mill Creek Park, her Garden Exchange group, Sunday drives, and dancing with her husband Bob to big bands at Idora Ballroom. She delighted her grandchildren with her Rhyming Bunny egg hunts, hiding handwritten verses in eggs with clues leading to Easter basket treats. She will be deeply missed by many, especially her son John R. (Shirlee) Davidson and her daughter Judy (John) McCartney.
She was preceded in death by her parents, then her husband Bob in 1972, and her brother John. Many loved her, including grandchildren Jeff (Karen) with Rachel and Mark, Julie (Jeff) with Dylan, Owen, and Ethan, and Michelle, Molly (Jeff) along with Audrey and Hank, Kate, and Leigh (Ross).
Friends can attend her Memorial Service at Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 550 N. Broad St. in Canfield on Saturday, March 10 at 11 am, preceded by a calling hour at 10.
