New Springfield - Dorothy Mae Simcox Brumbaugh, 94, of New Springfield, died Friday, October 3, 2008 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Boardman. Mrs. Brumbaugh was born April 8, 1914 in Youngstown, the daughter of Albert and Mary German Northall. She lived in the Youngstown area until moving to Carrollton, Ohio in 1985. She returned to the Youngstown area in 2003. Mrs. Brumbaugh received her GED when she was 49 years old and then attended Choffin Vocational and received her LPN. She worked as an LPN for the former Youngstown Hospital for 13 years working in the coronary care department the last 10 years. After retirement, she worked part-time for the former Little Forest and the former Diamondhead Nursing Homes. She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in New Springfield, where she was a former Sunday School teacher. She also attended the Mt. Pleasant Church in Carrollton. She was a former secretary for STCCC and a former member of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Brumbaugh enjoyed sewing, cross-stitching, and crocheting. Her first husband, Francis Simcox, whom she married December 10, 1930, died August 26, 1982. Her second husband, Ralph Brumbaugh, whom she married October 11, 1985, died March 16, 2004. She leaves her daughter, Dorothy Lodwick of Leesburg, FL; three sons, John (Sarah) Simcox of New Springfield, Arthur (Carol) Simcox of West Milton and William (Sue) Simcox of New Springfield; two step-daughters, Betty Shotwell of Indian Trail, NC and Marilyn (Tom) James of Essex Junction, Vermont; two step-sons, Vernon (Marlene) Brumbaugh of Medina and Jerry (Shelby) Brumbaugh of Painesville; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 17 step-grandchildren, 22 step-great-grandchildren; and 1step-great-great-grandchild. Besides her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Alice Simcox; her brother, William Northall; and her step-son, Melvyn Brumbaugh. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Poland. Interment will follow at Poland Riverside Cemetery. Friends will be received Sunday from 3-6 p.m. and Monday from 10-10:45 a.m. at the funeral home.
