Austintown - Dorothy H. Birkheimer, 88, formerly of New Bedford, PA, died December 21, 2013 at Clare Bridge of Austintown.
Mrs. Birkheimer was born October 9, 1925 in Martins Ferry, OH, a daughter of George and Ida Lady Holliday.
She was a 1943 graduate of Martins Ferry High School and was a homemaker. Dorothy was an avid reader and enjoyed crossword puzzles, and Geneva on the Lake.
Her husband, Leo N. Birkheimer, whom she married Sept. 21, 1946, died Oct. 28, 2009.
She is survived by two daughters, Linda (Richard) Melvin and Carol Connor of Topeka, KS; a son, Nelson (LeAnn) Birkheimer of Warren; one sister, Edith (Tom) Hood of Rayland, OH; five grandchildren, Elizabeth Birkheimer, Carrie Drovdlic, Michael Pogazelic, Samantha Koski, and Kenny Gosnell; nine great-grandchildren, Matthew, Nathaniel, Alex, Kathryn, Jonathan, Nathan, Sean, Brandon, and Shyann.
Besides her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by two brothers, George and Jack Holliday.
Services will be held Saturday at 5:00PM at Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, Struthers. Friends and family will be received from Saturday from 3:00-4:45PM at the funeral home.
