Youngstown - Dorothy J. Badnarik, 88, died Monday evening, July 11, 2016 at St. Elizabeth Health Center.
Mrs. Badnarik was born January 27, 1928 in Youngstown, a daughter of Michael and Susan Sich Bindas.
A lifelong area resident, Dorothy was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School. Dorothy worked most of her career as an accountant and office manager for Dieter Refrigeration on Wilson Avenue for over 20 years until her retirement.
She was a longtime member of Heritage Presbyterian Church, where she sang in the choir, and the National Slovak Society. Dorothy enjoyed traveling throughout the years with her family and playing cards.
Her husband, Michael Badnarik, preceded her in death in 1996. She is survived by her two sisters, Margaret DePillo of Boardman and Betty DeArcangelis of Youngstown; six nieces, Georgette Kollay, Margaret Jo (Jim) Naples, Kathy Willig, Louise (Frank) Rulli, Trudy Farbman, and Carole Ann Price; four nephews, Michael DeArcangelis, Joseph DeArcangelis, Michael (Patricia) Bindas, and John (Elaine) Babinchak; and many great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert, Michael and infant John Bindas; two sisters, Ann Babinchak and Susan Bindas; and a nephew, George Babinchak.
A funeral service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Heritage Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. Brent Eelman officiating. Interment will follow at Lake Park Cemetery.
Family and friends will be received on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at the Davis-Becker Funeral Home, 8536 Market St., Boardman and Friday from 10-10:45 p.m. at the church.
Memorial tributes may take the form of contributions in Mrs. Badnarik's name to the Heritage Presbyterian Church, 1951 Mathews Rd., Poland, Ohio 44514.
