Dorothy Rosella Askey

Dorothy Rosella Askey, 84 Poland- Dorothy Rosella Askey, 84 , died Monday evening at St. Elizabeth Health Center. Mrs. Askey was born in Altoona, Pennsylvania, March 25, 1920, a daughter of William Blair and Bertha C. Burns Ritchey. She was a 1938 graduate of Altoona High School where she was involved in intramural sports, the entertainment club and the learn to drive club. She was an officer and Credit Manager at Firestone Tire and Rubber where she retired in 1976 after 30 years of service. She was a member of the Poland United Methodist Church. She was very active in the YWCA and was an avid golfer, bowler and swimmer. She also enjoyed playing tennis. Her husband, Dale C. Askey, whom she married in 1940 ,died November 9, 1995. She leaves one son, Dale (Judy) Askey of Warren; one sister, Catherine Shew of Altoona, PA; two brothers, Don (Dorothy) Ritchey and Clyde (Mable) Ritchey both of Altoona, PA; and one grandson, Dale David Askey of Dayton. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister Betty Austin; three brothers, Raymond, Dean, and Elwood Ritchey. Funeral services will be Monday 11AM at the Poland United Methodist Church. Friends may call Sunday from 4-8 PM at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland and Monday 10:00-10:45AM at the church.
