New Springfield - Carl and Dorothy Balluck, Still Together
Carl Edwin Balluck was born September 11, 1932 in Struthers, Ohio, the son of George and Helen Lewis Balluck and passed away January 14, 2011.
Dorothy Jean McFadden Balluck was born in Youngstown, Ohio on October 28, 1929, the daughter of Richard Earl and Hazel Marie (Hiet) McFadden and passed away on March 8, 2024.
They lived their entire lives in this area, Struthers, New Middletown, Poland and New Springfield.
Carl, a multi-talented person, had been a self-employed trucker, a mechanic, auto body repairman and the front end specialist at Ohio Auto Body. He was also a millwright at Sheet & Tube and Alcan Aluminum in Warren, Ohio. He was computer literate, an electrician, a plumber, furnace repairman, carpenter, welder, metal worker, painter and plasterer. In short, if it needed done he either knew how to do it or learned how.
Dorothy was a medical secretary at both North and South Side Hospitals, a secretary/bookkeeper at the YMCA, and worked as a secretary for the Youngstown Board of Education at Choffin School of Practical Nursing, Harrison Elementary and East High School. During the time she worked for the Board of Education, she helped to get the AFSCME-AFL-CIO union elected as the secretarial bargaining unit and became their first president. Her hobbies were painting on wood, rocks, and glass. Two of her rock creations received 1st prize and her Japanese Fans of Cypress Root took an honorable mention in the fine arts category at the Canfield Fair. The bingo halls and casinos will miss her.
They married on her birthday in 1950 and had two children, Carl E. (Elizabeth) and Linda Jean (Eugene Zuccaro). Their loving and happy union lasted 60 years, 2 months and 17 days.
Carl's sister, Georgianne Balluck and his parents preceded him in death.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Marylouise Prine, and her two brothers, Franklin Earl and James Allen McFadden.
They are survived by their two children, their grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews,
Both Carl and Dorothy were cremated, and no calling hours were observed for either of them, at their request.
Arrangements for both Carl and Dorothy were entrusted to Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, Struthers
