Doris Warner Weiss

BOARDMAN - Private services and Christian burial were held today, July 25, 2014, with the Rev. Peter Del Nagro of Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church officiating, for Doris Warner-Weiss, 96, who passed away peacefully into the arms of our Lord and family on Wednesday July 23, 2014, with her daughter by her side. Honoring Doris's wishes, there were no calling hours.
Doris was born March 12, 1918, in Struthers, the daughter of Ralph W. and Clara Belle Whetstone Warner.
She attended schools in Struthers, coming to Youngstown in the early 1930s and graduating from South High School with the Class of '36. Doris worked many years as a buyer for the F.W. Woolworth Co., downtown Youngstown. Moving to Boardman in 1961, she worked for SuperX Drugs-Kroger Co. as head cashier and bookkeeper, retiring in 1978.
She was of the Protestant faith, attended Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church, and was a former member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, and the Masonic Temple Eastern Star Miriam Chapter. During World War II, Doris was a U.S.O. hostess.
In loving memory, she is survived by her daughter, Carol Vesy; nieces and nephews, Gretchen (Edwin) Muccillo of Gilbert, Ariz., Susan (Thomas) Brucoli of Warren, Gene R. Bruce II of Hubbard and Alyssa Muccillo of Gilbert, Ariz., Jenna and Darien Brucoli, both of Warren. Special loving friends, Joann P., Dona F., Rosemary H., Jim and May, Murph, Bill, Nancy S., Bob and Janet, Ray and Shirley, and Sophia and Lillian blessed her life.
Her husband, Michael, whom she married Nov. 21, 1946, passed away July 22, 1990. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Jack W. Warner; her son-in-law, Richard; and niece and nephew, Rose M. and Gene R. Bruce.
The family is grateful for the many years of professional, kind, compassionate care provided by Dr. John Koval and his staff. Also, a heartfelt thank you is given to the dedicated nurses and staff on 4NW of ValleyCare Northside Medical Center, SouthernCare Hospice and Hospice of the Valley.
