Canfield- Doris Strain Lohr, 95, of North View Drive died Thursday morning at Sterling House. Doris was born May 1, 1913 in Youngstown, a daughter of Joseph and Mabel Baker Strain and was a life long area resident of Youngstown. A graduate of South High School, Doris worked in the banking industry. She was a member and Elder Emerita of the Paul Easton Church at Glenellen, and was a member of the former Central Christian Church, where she was the first woman elder, and Sunday School teacher. Doris was president of Christian Women Fellowship, a member of the P.E.O., Chapter C.D., member and past president of the Sekulta Club, and a member of Monday Musical and the Youngstown Club. Doris loved her family and enjoyed gardening. Her husband, Ray M. Lohr, comptroller of The Vindicator, whom she married August 26, 1939 died April 2, 1974. She leaves one daughter, Daryl L. (Richard) Novak of Chagrin Falls; one granddaughter, Kristin Mittler (John) LaRocca of Philadelphia, PA; three great-grandchildren, Matthew John, age 9, Ryan James, age 7, and Jackson Lohr, age 5; one niece, Joanne Detchon of Atlanta, GA; and two grand-nieces, Traci Detchon of Atlanta, GA. and Carla Detchon of San Francisco, CA. Besides her parents and husband, Doris was preceded in death by her infant son, Jeffrey Jansen Lohr; sister, Madelyn Detchon Davies; brother, Harry Strain and nephew Dr. Carl Detchon. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland. Interment will follow at Lake Park Cemetery, Youngstown. Friends will be received Thursday from 10-10:45 a.m. at the funeral home.
