Poland - Doris Genevieve Jahn, age 84, of Poland, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home Saturday, July 23, 2011. Mrs. Jahn was born May 27, 1927, the second child born to Ray and Erma Zeyer.
She lived her childhood and teen years in Harrison County with her parents and siblings, Virginia and Ray.
She graduated from Franklin High School in New Athens, Ohio and then worked at Westinghouse in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where she met her husband of sixty-four years, Henry. Doris Zeyer and A. Henry Jahn were united in marriage on June 7, 1947.
She earned her B. A. degree from Youngstown State University and her Master's from Westminster College in New Wilmington, Pennsylvania. Mrs. Jahn taught in the Poland Public School System, retiring in 1989 with twenty-five years of service. She was a member of Poland Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Jahn is survived by her husband of 64 years, Henry Jahn of Poland; son, Douglas (Cynthia) Jahn of Parkman, OH; daughter, Shelley Elizabeth Jahn of Columbus, OH; grandsons, Scott (AnnaLe) Jahn of Lakewood, OH, Benjamin Jahn of Bozeman, MT; great-granddaughter, Norah Jahn of Lakewood; brother, Ray (Vivian) Zeyer of St. Clairsville, OH; sister-in-law, Audrey Jahn of New Oxford, PA; brother-in-law, John Krymski of Tulsa, OK. She will also be missed by many beloved nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Doris was preceded in death by parents, Ray and Erma Zeyer; sister, Virginia McNaughton; in-laws, Dr. Augustus and Elizabeth Jahn; brothers-in-law, Phillip McNaughton, Robert Jahn and Richard Jahn; sisters-in-law, Ethel Jahn and Dorothy Krymski.
Services will be held at Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland Chapel, Tuesday at 10 a.m. with Pastor Don Scott Monaco officiating. Interment will follow in the Olive Branch Cemetery on Rt 250 in Harrisville, Ohio at 2:30 p.m.
Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Monday from 5 to 8 p.m.
