Donald Reid White

October 18, 1925 — December 14, 2011

COLUMBIANA, OH- Donald Reid White, 86, passed away Wednesday evening, December 14, 2011.

Mr. White was born October 18, 1925 in Iron Mountain, MI to Nora Laviolette and Osborne White.

He lived in Ottawa, ON and Montreal, PQ and attended Feller Institute in Grand Ligne, PQ until 1942. He served in the Canadian Army from 1943 until 1945 and the United States Army from 1946 until 1949. Mr. White moved to Manchester, New Hampshire in 1952 and graduated from New Hampshire Technical Institute in 1956.

He worked at Sander's Associates in Nashua, NH as an Electrical Engineering Assistant, until his retirement in 1987. During his career at Sander's, he worked on many interesting projects, including the 1st U.S. satellite and the first video game, PONG. Mr. White later moved to Newport, VT, where he lived until moving to Ohio in 2008 to be closer to his family.

He loved golf, crossword puzzles, his wood stove, playing pool, bacon and eggs, and spending any time at all with his children and grandchildren. He always had the most snow free driveway in the neighborhood.

His wife, the former Beulah Faye Hermann, whom he married August 6, 1948, passed away in 2009. He is survived by four children, Robert (Lydia) White of Sarasota, FL, William White of Ravenna, OH, Wendy (Tad) Kindelspire of Largo, FL, and Marc (Julia) White of Wayland, MA; 8 grandchildren, Christopher, Matthew, Amber, Autumn, Averie, Austin, Alison and Nicholas; and 4 great-grandchildren.
