STRUTHERS - Donald J. Shirilla, 40, died Sunday, June 1, 2014.
Mr. Shirilla was born July 10, 1973, in Youngstown, a son of James and Bonnie Thomas Shirilla.
He was a 1991 graduate of Struthers High School and went to college for a few years, and became a loan officer, working for American Mortgage for several years.
Don had various jobs over the years including Stanton Market, Wonder Bread, and most recently at Santon Electric.
He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and a race car enthusiast. Don also enjoyed listening to the Beegees.
He is survived by his parents, James and Bonnie Shirilla of Struthers; two daughters, Alexa and Tiffany Shirilla of Struthers; brother, James E. Shirilla of Boardman; niece Nadia; nephew Jimmy; uncles and aunts, Nick and Toni Shirilla, Diane Thomas, and Ken Thomas; and several cousins.
Don was preceded in death by his grandparents, Edward C. Thomas, and Nick and Mary Shirilla; and uncle, Gary Thomas.
A funeral service will be held on Friday at 7 p.m. at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, 11 Spring Street, Struthers, with Rev. William Rotar officiating.
Friends and family will be received on Friday from 4 to 6:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family requests all gifts take the form of donations to set up a fund for Donald's children.
