Youngstown - Donald P. Renstrom, 89 of Youngstown, died Wednesday afternoon August 28, 2019 as St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown. He was born April 1, 1930 in Youngstown, a son of Eric and Signe (Ahlquist) Renstrom and had been a lifelong area resident.
He was a 1948 graduate of Poland Seminary High School and had worked as a Forester for Ohio Edison retiring in 1992. He had also been the police chief for the Springfield Township Police Department for many years. He was also a member of the Mahoning County Sheriff's Department Auxiliary. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
Donald was a lifetime member of Evangel Baptist Church in Boardman where he had served as an usher for many years. He was a Mason and a 50 year member of East Palestine Lodge F & AM 417. Donald was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and spending time with his grandchildren..
Besides his wife, the former Marjorie Winkle, whom he married May 19, 1955, he leaves two sons, Mark (Laura) Renstrom of Poland and Scott (Beth Barry) Renstrom of Boardman; two grandchildren, Jennifer and Signe, and two great-grandchildren, Aiden and Alaina.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday September 4, 2019 at the Evangel Baptist Church, 5248 Southern Blvd., Boardman, Ohio 44512 with Pastor Randy Brunko officiating. Friends may call from 5-7:00 P.M. Tuesday at the Davis-Becker Funeral Home in Boardman and one hour prior to the services at the church.
