Donald A. Menk, Jr., 75, died Tuesday evening, August 1, 2017 at Beeghly Oaks.
Don was born June 23, 1942 in Canton, a son of the late Donald and Dorothy Hull Menk.
Raised in North Canton, Don was a 1960 graduate of Hoover High School. Shortly after graduation, Don and his family relocated to Poland and he attended Youngstown State University.
He first worked as a skilled welder for Fithian & Faulk and later Polling & Bacon. Don had a passion for guns and turned his hobby into a full time business. In the 80's, Don opened Color Case Company, which specialized in case hardening restoration for antique guns.
Over the years, Don enjoyed remodeling and restoring his historic farmhouse with his wife, gun trading and restoration, working on hot rods, and reading about American history.
His wife, the former Martha "Marty" White, whom he married November 10, 1971, preceded him in death on October 27, 2016. Don is survived by his daughter, Laura Menk of Atlanta, GA; brother, Bruce (Martha) Menk of Costa Mesa, CA; and his sister, Martha (Gary) Janak of Richmond, VA.
Family and friends will be received on Saturday from 3-4:45 p.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, 270 N. Main St., Poland. A memorial service will follow on Saturday at 5 p.m. Interment will be at Poland Riverside Cemetery.
