Struthers- Donald C. Hutira, age 84, of Struthers, died on Sunday, December 7, 2014 in St. Elizabeth Health Center. He was born in Youngstown on March 24, 1930, son of the late George and Justina Hutira and was a 1948 graduate of Struthers High School. Donald went on to earn his Bachelor's Degree in Education from Youngstown State University.
He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps and was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church.
Donald taught at Boardman Center Middle School for many years before his retirement and enjoyed gardening, bowling and woodworking.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Hutira.
He leaves his loving wife Christina, whom he married in 1962; two sons, David Hutira of Columbus and Christopher Hutira of Struthers; daughter, Allison Hutira of Struthers; and three granddaughters, Emma, Christina and Josie.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 8pm in the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, 11 Spring St. Struthers, OH 44471, with Deacon John Terranova officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 6-8pm on Thursday in the funeral home.
