Donald James Frank, 81
BOARDMAN - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Charles Church for Donald James Frank, 81, of Glenn Ellen Senior Living, formerly of Shorehaven Drive. He passed away Friday afternoon at Hospice House.
Mr. Frank was born Oct. 15, 1931, in North Lima, a son of Paul J. and Anna Seneca Frank.
He was a graduate of North Lima High School and of Youngstown State University. He had worked for 36 years as a production planner for Cold Metal products (J & L Steel), retiring in 1994. He also had worked for many years at ADT and owned a landscaping company.
He was a veteran of Korean War serving with the U.S. Air Force and was a civic deputy sheriff with Mahoning County.
"Jim" enjoyed life to the fullest, enjoying golf, fishing and excelling at several sports. In his retirement, he enjoyed gardening with his friend, Steve, generously passing out the fruit of his labor to friends, family and strangers alike.
His wife, the former Maryann Vross, whom he married March 31, 1951, died Sept. 23, 2005.
Surviving him are his children, Carol (Ted) Davis of Cary, N.C., Linda (Curt) Wellington of Columbus, Janet (John) Baugh of Edgewood, Ky., Don Frank of Birmingham, Ala. and Kathleen (Brook) Brantly of St. Augustine, Fla. Also nine grandchildren, Lisa, Kimmy, Calley, Angela, Christopher, Kevin, Eric, Buddy and Megan.
Preceding him in death besides his wife and parents, are two brothers, Paul R. Frank and William Frank.
