Donald Paul Flink, 85, of Youngstown, OH, died Tuesday afternoon May 8, 2018 at Masternick Memorial in New Middletown.

He was born November 27, 1932 in Youngstown, OH, son of Clarence and Minnie (Myers) Flink and had been a lifelong area resident.

Donald was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School and had been a thirty year employee of Ajax Magnethermic where he was a machinist and general foreman. Following his retirement he was employed with the Sutton Travel Agency.

He served in the Naval Reserve and was a long time member of Trinity United Methodist Church where he had been an usher and served on many committees. He was currently a member of Canfield United Methodist Church.

Donald loved Mill Creek Park and the outdoors. He enjoyed boating and water skiing with family and friends. He was an avid painter and enjoyed photography. He enjoyed traveling and taking his family on many vacations. one of the most memorial trips was traveling on a cross country vacation in 1974 which lasted almost three weeks. Another memorable trip was a trip to Maine with his two sons and grandson on a sailing schooner. He had also researched and traveled to his native Sweden on two occasions to follow his family tree many generations. He found and kept in touch with relatives previously he didn't know existed.

Besides his wife, the former Shirley Stone, whom he married August 27, 1955, he leaves two sons, Dale (Renae) Flink of New Middletown, and Jeffrey (John) Flink of Chicago; his grandchildren, Danielle Flink of Tuscon, Arizona, and Adam Flink of Las Vegas, as well as two great-grandchildren, Avery, and Evan.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday May 12, 2018 at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Poland. Friends may call from 1:30-3:00 p.m. prior to the services at the funeral home.
