Lowellville - Donald Anthony Commisso, 69 of Lowellville, died Tuesday morning of complications due to a stroke at Forum Health Northside Medical Center.
Don was born August 27, 1940 in Youngstown, a son of Dominic and Mary Carrocce Commisso. He was raised in Hillsville/Edinburg and moved to this area in 1963.
Don was a 1958 graduate of Bessemer High School and served in the Army National Guard. A highly respected businessman, Don established Commisso Paving over 40 years ago. Recently Don along with his son Dino, renovated the former Rosa DeLima church into what is presently Brownstone Catering. Don was a member of the Coitsville VFW and Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Struthers.
Don enjoyed hunting and fishing at his cabin in Tionesta and most of all spending time with his grandson, the apple of his eye, Dominick.
Through the years, Don made many friends. He will be remembered for always willing to lend a a helping hand and for his great sense of humor.
Besides his wife the former Shirley Buchanan whom he married October 12, 1963 he leaves one son, Dino Commisso of Coitsville; one daughter, Angel Commisso-West of Coitsville; one sister, Dorothy (Mickey) Markovich of Ulysses, PA; and his grandson, Dominick Commisso.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, 10:00 A.M. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Fr. Paul Tobin officiating. Interment will follow at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, Lowellville.
Friends will be received Thursday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland. A Prayer Service will be held Friday at 9:15 A.M. at the funeral home.
