Donald E. Allshouse, 85, of Boardman, died early Monday morning, May 1, 2017 at the Greenbriar Healthcare Center.
Don was born May 27, 1931 in Struthers, a son of Preston and Vada Knepshield Allshouse.
A resident of Struthers until 1965, Don was a graduate of Struthers High School, Class of 1951 where he played football and was on the track team. After graduation, Don enlisted in the United States Navy and served during the Korean Conflict. After he was honorably discharged in 1955 he went on to serve in the Navy Reserves.
Don worked as an assembler erector for Wean United and later United Engineering for 28 years and then worked at Production Experts in Cleveland for 10 years. He retired from Production Experts in 1997.
He was a member of the former Wick Lodge # 581 F.&A.M., and a member of the former Struthers Athletic Club.
Don is survived by his daughter, Jayne (Mark Hurite) Allshouse of Cuyahoga Falls; two sons, Donald Allshouse, Jr. of Boardman and Col. Michael Allshouse of San Antonio, TX; one sister, Sally Ann Orosz of Struthers; and four grandchildren, Patrick,Veronica, Michael and Sara Allshouse.
In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Maggie Allshouse; two brothers, Clyde and Clifford Allshouse; and two sisters, Margaret Allshouse and Garnet Port.
Private gravesides services will be held later this month at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, OH.
