Boardman - Dominic James Ruggiero, Jr., 62, of Boardman, died Thursday, February 23, 2017 at the Cleveland Clinic surrounded by his family and friends.
Dominic was born June 26, 1954 in Youngstown, a son of the late Dominic and Sophie Kukla Ruggiero.
Raised in Youngstown, Dominic was a 1972 graduate of Woodrow High School. He obtained his LPN from Choffin Career Center and worked for numerous health care facilities in area including the former Carrington South and Windsor House.
Dominic enjoyed golfing, bowling and was a die hard fan of the Cleveland Browns. He went as far as creating his basement in orange and brown in honor of the Browns and taking center stage was the 1964 National Championship Pennant. Dominic was an excellent cook, and loved sharing with family and friends his Italian and Slovak specialties.
He leaves his daughter, Dominique Ruggiero of Poland; brother, Robert (Terri) Ruggiero of New Waterford; sister, Janice (Mike) Pettola of Canfield, OH; four nieces, Jamie (Aubin) Rivera of Austintown, Goddaughter, Ashley (Ross) Davis of Columbus, and Kristin and Lauren Pettola, both of Canfield; and one great nephew, Sebastian Davis.
A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Parish at Saints Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Youngstown with Fr. Melvin Rusnak officiating.
Friends will be received Friday from 5-7 p.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Poland.
