Dolores Farina

October 26, 1950 — August 6, 2017

NEW MIDDLETOWN – Dolores (“Dee”) Farina, 66, passed away peacefully on Sunday evening after bravely battling illness. Calling hours will be held at Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Poland Thursday, August 10 from 6 – 8 p.m. A Catholic mass will be held on Friday, August 11 at 10 a.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Church in New Middletown.

Dee was born Oct. 26, 1950 in Youngstown, daughter of the late Alvie A. Gentile and James A. Vergallito.

She was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High school and was a lifelong area resident.

Dee was a dedicated catechism teacher for 25 years at St. Paul’s, and her students still remember the positive influence of their beloved teacher. Dee also brought Eucharist to the sick, volunteered to help the elderly, and was a member of the Boardman Lions Club. She loved music, especially the Beatles, and insisted before death that she was looking forward to seeing John Lennon and Prince in the after life. Dee also loved dancing and was talented at the jitterbug. She was a person who loved others intensely and who would give anything she had to help someone else. Nothing was more important to her than her family.

Dee leaves behind three daughters, Lisa, Lana, and Lindsey; grandson Jaxon; grandchildren/ “fur” children, Agnes and Charlie; two brothers Chip and Jim; and beloved sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.

The daughters thank Dee’s physicians for the loving care of their mother, including Dr. Kelly Tomasic, Dr. Sayed Yossef, and Dr. Erdal Sarac. These skilled physicians extended Dee’s life and always took time to talk to her daughters via long distance phone calls. Much gratitude is also extended to the loving staff at Hospice House, who provided so much compassion to Dee and the family as she transitioned.

Dee made it very clear what she wanted of everyone after she died: “All I ask of you is forever to remember me as loving you.”
