Diana S. Burich

Struthers- Diana S. Burich, 76, passed away on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at Arden Courts in Akron, OH after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. 

Diana was born August 24, 1948 in Clarksburg, WV, a daughter of Lewanna (Miles) Hersman, and was a Struthers resident for most of her life.

 She was a 1966 graduate of Ryan High School. She started her career in the Insurance Industry in 1966 right after graduating from high school. Her first position was a clerk and she worked her way up to the vice president level at several different insurance agencies, starting with Vagnozzi Pipino, and progressed to the following agencies, Frank B. Hall & Co., Pipino Insurance Agency, Inc., James S. Pipino Insurance Agency, Gallagher Pipino, Inc., L. Calvin Jones, and finally ending with John B. Booth. While at the Gallagher Pipino agency, she worked on the San Francisco 49ers NFL team account. Her level of success was hard-fought in the male dominated industry of the times. 

Diana obtained her CIC (“Certified Insurance Counselors”) and CPCU (“Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter”) designations. During her career, she was able to meet countless lifelong friends and travel the country. She enjoyed her family and especially her grandchildren, along with gardening, and traveling to the beach.

 Her husband, George Burich, whom she married on November 6, 1970, died on November 3, 2008. 

She leaves a daughter, Kris (Pat) Walsh of Ravenna; and three grandchildren, Dillon, Alexis, and Kelsey Walsh. She also leaves behind her sister, Debra (Walter) Walker, a brother David Hersman and several brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews. 

Besides her husband and her mom, she was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Hersman. 

Friends and family may call from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, 270 N. Main St., Poland, Ohio 44514 on Sunday, November 24, 2024, and on Monday, November 25th from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.

 Burial will follow at Poland Riverside next to her husband.
