Diana Rose Bonish

Poland- Diana Rose Bonish, 67, of New Springfield formerly of Poland, died Monday morning at her daughter's residence after years of battling cancer.

Diana was born October 2, 1943 in Poland, a daughter of LaVergne and Laura Jones Benzenhoefer. A life-long resident of Poland, Diana moved to New Springfield in January of this year.

A 1961 graduate of Poland Seminary High School, Diana worked in the kitchen of the Blackburn Retirement Home as a teenager. She later worked at Towne & Country Dry Cleaners in Poland from 1987 until 1992. For the past 20 years she was employed as a companion in assisting in the daily activites of her dear friend Marilyn Harrison. Most importantly, she was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

Diana always wanted to travel and was able to visit Germany twice, Austria, Texas, Las Vegas, and numerous trips to Mountaineer. Diana loved spending time with her grandchildren. She babysat extensivly, planned regular play dates at the park and the annual Christmas shopping trips, and enjoyed sharing her love of horses with them. Diana dearly loved her family and friends.

Her husband Joseph Bonish Jr., whom she married September 1, 1966 died September 5, 2002. Diana leaves one son, Joseph (Michelle) Bonish of Newsport News, VA; two daughters, Michelle (Larry) Hanley with whom she made her home in New Springfield and Jennifer Bonish (Bill Brown) of Petersburg; five brothers, Thomas (Carol) Benzenhoefer of Poland, David (Joyce) Benzenhoefer of Cranfills Gap, TX, Ronald (Johanna) Benzenhoefer of Austintown, Gary (Anita) Benzenhoefer of Florence, TX, Kenneth Benzenhoefer of Ft Worth, TX; three sisters, Charlotte (Joe) Huffman of Cresson, TX, Ellen (Russell) Schaefer of New Waterford, and Ida (Robert) Swesey of New Springfield; ten grandchildren, Joseph IV and Kayla Bonish, Shae, Jacob, Mikayla and Cordell Hanley, and Dustin, Brandon, Ryan, and Ceara Brown.

Besides her parents and husband, Diana was preceded in death by her sister, Patricia Benzenhoefer; and two brothers, Robert and Charles Benzenhoefer.

Services will be held Friday, 11:00 AM at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland with Chaplain Joanne Dota of Hospice of the Valley officiating. Interment will follow Saturday at the Petersburg Cemetery.

Friends will be received Thursday from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
