Deon E. Bookout, 94 Canfield- Deon E. Bookout, 94, formely of 2510 Jennifer Drive, Poland, died Saturday evening at Beeghly Oaks after an extended illness. He was born October 7, 1908, in Hagerstown, IN, a son of the late Earl and Effie Manifold Bookout. He was raised an attended school in Hagerstown, moving to the area in 1933. Mr. Bookout was the owner and operator of Reynolds and Bookout, Autoparts Store, retiring in 1976 after 40 years in business. He was a member of the Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Youngstown, the BPO Elks of Girard-Youngstown Lodge #55. A 50 Year Member of Poland Lodge #766 F&AM, Valley of Youngstown Scottish Rite 32degree Mason, Aut Mori Grotto, and the AL Koran Shrine. He was also the Past-president of the Ohio Automotive Parts Dealers Association, the Struthers Croquet Club. He was a member of the Tippecanoe Country Club, where he golfed until he was 91. Mr. Bookout enjoyed gardening flowers, fishing, basketball and golf, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Besides his wife the late Cleone Harper, who he married May 19, 1935, and who died January 2, 1997. He leaves a daughter: Carol and son-in-law Kent Miller of Canfield; three grandchildren: Deon Miller; Debra Kominak; Darla Mellott; and three great-grandchildren: Ryan and Brendan Miller; and Brock Mellott. He was preceded in death by two sisters: Dimple Brown and Dorothy Wood; three brothers: Maurice; Herman; Richard. A Funeral Service will be held, 6PM Wednesday, at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4PM to 5-:45 PM prior to the service.
