Columbiana - Delores June Young, 79, of Struthers, died early Monday morning at St. Maryâa�a��s Alzheimer's Center. Delores also known as Dee, was born March 24, 1929 in Youngstown, a daughter of John W. and Vera M. Ware Stevens. She was raised in North Jackson and moved to Struthers when she was in the Ninth Grade. Dee graduated from Struthers High School in 1948 where she was affectionately known as Steve to her classmates. She worked as a kitchen aide for Maplecrest Nursing Home in Struthers and in the warehouse of Hartz Mountain in Girard. Dee was a former member of the Davidson-Becker Bowling League, the Struthers Fraternal Order of Eagles, and she sponsored a child from Ecuador. She was a member of the Struthers Presbyterian Church. Her husband James Young whom she married June 19, 1948 died November 25, 1981. She leaves one son, Danny Young of Struthers; two daughters, Joyce (William) Richards of Lowellville and Robin (Keith) Giancola also of Lowellville; six grandchildren, Tracie (Shawn) McCaughtry of Charleston, S.C., Danielle (Dave) LaRosa of Boardman, Melinda, Maddy, and Nick Giancola of Lowellville, and Ian Young of Cadiz; four great-grandchildren, Madison and Katelyn McCaughtry, and Zoe and David LaRosa; and her cats, Smokey, Missy, and Alf. Besides her parents and husband, Dee was preceded in death by one sister, Mildred Simpson and one brother Donald Stevens. Funeral services will be Wednesday, 11:00 a.m. at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, Struthers with Rev. Steve Breazier officiating. Interment will follow at the Lake Park Cemetery, Youngstown. Friends will be received today from 4-7 p.m. and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home. Dee's children would like to express their sincere gratitude for the wonderful care provided by the staff at St. Mary's Alzheimerâa�a��s Center, especially to Missy, Lisa, Kelsie, Margie, and Debbie; and for the wonderful care from the staff at Hospice of the Valley, especially Nurse Renee Tucci, and volunteer Judy Nelson.
