Poland - Deborah K. Denmeade, 63, of Poland, died Thursday afternoon, May 7, 2015, at Hospice of the Valley, Hospice House after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Debbie was born June 28, 1951 in Indiana, PA, a daughter of Norman and Audrey Martin Johnston. In 1956 Debbie's family came to Poland where she has lived all of her life.
A 1969 graduate of Poland Seminary High School, Debbie worked as secretary for the former Struthers Presbyterian Church for 20 years and then for AM Transit Company formerly the Carnation Tours for numerous years.
Debbie was a 40 plus year member of the Struthers Presbyterian Church now known as Struthers Parkside Church. She served as an ordained Deacon for the Struthers Presbyterian Church.
Debbie loved country music and taught line dancing at Ruth's Dance and Fitness Company on South Ave. for 10 years. The pride and joy of her life were her two grandchildren whom she loved more then life itself.
She leaves her husband, Paul Denmeade, whom she married May 18, 1974; one daughter, Kellie (Joe) Gabriel of Poland; her two grandsons, Noah and Christian Gabriel; and three sisters, Cindy Charlotte of North Olmsted, OH, Cathy (Larry) Duck of Struthers, and Julie Stone of Darien, IL.
Besides her parents, Debbie was preceded in death by her infant daughter Stacey; and her brother, John Johnston.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, 10:00 AM at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Poland with Pastor James Berkebile officiating. Interment will follow at the Poland Riverside Cemetery.
Friends will be received Monday from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
