Boardman - Deborah H. Cox, 57, of Boardman, died Wednesday afternoon, May 22, 2013 after a long courageous battle with cancer and RA.
Debbie was born January 29, 1956 in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Daniel J.and Dorothy Phillips Hurite.
Raised in Struthers, Debbie attended St. Nicholas School and was a 1974 graduate of Struthers High School. She earned her Bachelor and Masters Degree in Education from Youngstown State University. Debbie retired after 32 years of teaching in theYoungstown City Schools.
Debbie is a member of St. Paul the Apostle Church in New Middletown, and a member of the Delta Cappa Gamma sorority. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, camping, playing games, traveling, and simply participating in the lives of those she loved. Debbie will always be remembered as Mom or Mom Cox. She was greatly loved and will be missed by those whose lives she touched.
Debbie leaves behind her two daughters, Amy Cox of New Castle, PA and Amanda Cox of Poland; one sister, Diane Barber of Poland; her niece, Melissa; nephew, Charlie; two great-nieces, Hannah and Olivia; great-nephew, Zachary; her unborn grandson, Brady; and her beloved cats, Kimmy, Dotty, Danny, and Susie.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, 10:00 AM at St. Paul the Apostle Church with Fr. Stephen Popovich officiating. Interment will follow at the Riverside Cemetery in Poland..
Friends will be received Tuesday, 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, Struthers, where a Prayer service will be conducted Wednesday at 9:15 AM.
