Dean Emerick, 88
BOARDMAN Services will be held Saturday, at 11:30 a.m. at the Boardman United Methodist Church Chapel for Dean Emerick, 88. He passed away Monday evening at his home.
Mr. Emerick was born Dec. 28, 1926, in Liberty Township, a son of Rees G.
and Harriet Barclay Emerick.
He graduated from Girard High School in 1944 and the National School of Meat Cutting in July of 1948. He had been a butcher at Sparkle Market in Girard.
Dean is a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Navy.
He was a member of the church and the church choir. He also was a member of the Youngstown Sheet & Tube chorus. He was an Eagle Scout and a member of the UFCW.
Dean enjoyed golfing with his Friday group at Mill Creek Park and his ³Lunch Bunch² with the class of 1944.
Surviving him is his wife, the former Henrietta Lepor, whom he married June 11, 1947; his three daughters, Linda (Dale) Sturdevant of Boardman, Peggy
(Taylor) Evans of Boardman, and Denise (James) Slovan of Macedonia; 10 grandchildren, Jon (Lisa) Strange, Todd (Katie) Strange, Heather Strange, George Evans, Jeff Evans, Diana (Mike) Selzer, Kelly (Ezekiel) Trosper, Emily Slovan, Kevin Sturdevant, and Kari Sturdevant; a sister, Carolyn Hughes of McDonald; and seven great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death besides his parents is a sister, Barbara Wade.
Friends may call from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. at the church.
The family requests that material tributes take the form of contributions to MVI Hospice, 4891 Belmont Ave., Youngstown or the Boardman United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 6809 Market St., Boardman, OH 44512 Arrangements handled by the Davis-Becker Funeral Home in Boardman.
