David J. Copanic

Struthers - David J. Copanic Sr., 65 of Struthers passed away of Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at Adventura Nursing Home in North Lima after a lengthy illness. David was born December 7, 1957 in Youngstown, a son of Donald and Louise (Butinski) Copanic.

He was a 1975 graduate of North High School and was an Air Force veteran. He was retired as a police officer from the Youngstown Police Department and had owned and operated several successful businesses in the Youngstown area. He was a member of the Lowellville Rod and Gun Club, and he enjoyed cooking, firearms, hunting, helping others, and making people laugh.

He will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by his family. He leaves his children, Michele Roselli (Feroze) Baderuddin of Hermitage, Pa, David (Melissa) Copanic Jr. of Boardman, Theresa Copanic of Boardman, And Noah Salamander of Austintown; four grandchildren, Ryan, Bryan, Michael, and Louie; his siblings, Dale Copanic of Garretsville, OH, Petula Loveless of Hubbard, OH, Angel Dust and Anthony Copanic, both of Oil CIty, PA, and Tom and Frank Spoljaric both of Tallmadge, OH.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepparents; his brother, Donald Copanic; and his granddaughter, Lilah Copanic.

A memorial service celebrating David's life will be held at a later date.
