David Wharton Williams, 83

Poland - David Wharton Williams, 83, passed away on Monday evening, March 7, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family.

David, known by his family and friends as "Dave," was born April 18, 1938, in Youngstown, OH, the son of the late Harry and Julia (McBride) Williams.

He graduated from South High School in 1956 and attended Youngstown State University. Dave served in the U.S. Army.

Dave worked in information technology (IT) and data processing for United Engineering in Youngstown, Forum Health in Youngstown, and for Electronic Data System (EDS) in Cleveland, retiring in April, 2003.

He was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Downtown Youngstown, where he held several offices, as well as singing in the choir.  He was a member of  Western Star  Lodge #21 F & AM.  Dave enjoyed golf and played on the Sokol League. and The Senior League at Mill Creek Park Golf Course.  Dave was also a former member of the Gardeners of Greater Youngstown (Men's Garden Club).  He enjoyed working in his yard and doing  projects around his home.

Dave is survived by his wife of 36 years, the former Christine A. Erickson, whom he married on August 24, 1985; two sons, David H. (Gina McCloskey) Williams of Hubbard, OH, and John L. (Elizabeth) Williams of Hobe Sound, FL; five grandchildren, Bryant Williams, Zachery Williams, Teague Williams, Vance Williams, Zoe' Williams; great-granddaughter, Madison Williams; a sister, Suzanne Thorns of Boyd, MD; and a brother and sister-in-law, David (Delorys) Erickson of Woodstock, GA; and several nieces and nephews.

Per Dave's request, there will be a private memorial service celebrating Dave's life at Davis-Becker Funeral Home, 8536 Market Street in Boardman with Pastor John Polanski officiating. Interment will take place at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Boardman.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that material tributes take the form of contributions to American Cancer Society or to Alzheimer's Association, Greater East Ohio Area Chapter, 70 W. Streetsboro St, Ste 201, Hudson, OH 44236, Team: Forget Me Not; or a charity of one's choice.
