David M. Sopko

David M. Sopko, 88 Youngstown- David M. Sopko, 88 of Park Vista died Friday evening at the nursing home. Mr. Sopko was born May 17, 1918 in Youngstown, a son of Michael and Anna Estock Sopko. He was a life-long area resident. A 1936 graduate of South High School, Mr. Sopko was an electrician for Mahoning Valley Sanitary District for 24 years retiring in 1985. He was a member of Faith Community Church and Youngstown Masonic Lodge #615. He enjoyed golfing and after retirement worked at the Mill Creek Golf Course. He leaves his wife the former Joan M. Baker whom he married September 27, 1964; one brother, John (Florence) Sopko of Poland; two nieces, Susan L. Sopko of Youngstown and Terry K. Dix of Chillicothe, OH; and two nephews, J. Thomas Sopko of Cambridge, Mass., and James Baker of Boardman. Besides his parents, Mr. Sopko was preceded in death by his first wife, Lois Halter, one sister, Pauline Parks and one brother, Herbert Sopko. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
