Struthers - David J. "Red" Rogers, 66, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2024 surrounded by his family.
The twin son of Ernest J. and Lucille M. (Faraglia) Rogers (Ruggiero), he graduated from Lowellville High School in 1976, and then worked for R.E. Michel Company, where he was always at your service and made many, many friends.
A proud 30-year member of the Lowellville Mt. Carmel Society, David played a key role in organizing and heading the annual Bocce Tournament during the festival for over 20 years. Together with his twin, he took great care in maintaining the bocce courts, a task close to his heart in honor of his grandfather, Daniel Faraglia, who served as the band director from 1932 to 1952.
David ensured the courts were always in excellent condition for the men's, women's, and co-ed leagues. He took special pride in preparing the courts for the week of July 16th, adorning them with sponsor banners and Italian decorations to enhance the festivities.
Affectionately known as "Red," David eagerly anticipated marching on July 16th alongside his twin and lifelong high school friends-Al Kinkela, Jerry Melillo, and Bill Fallat. Together, they shared countless laughs and good times, creating cherished memories filled with camaraderie and celebration.
David is survived by a daughter, Heather Ackley of Loveland, CO; his siblings, Anthony Ruggiero and Lucille Bartlett, of Struthers, twin, Daniel Rogers and Rose Vocature, both of Lowellville, Adelina (Bob) LaRicca of Niles, twins, Ernie Ruggiero of Tyler, TX and Mary Anne Wyatt of Loganville, GA.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Family and friends will be received on Sunday, December 22, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Lowellville, and again on Monday from 10:30 a.m. until a prayer service beginning at 11:30 a.m. A graveside service will be held at Holy Rosary Cemetery Chapel at 12:00 p.m.
The family would like to extend their deepest thanks to the Cleveland Clinic, Mercy Health Boardman, Select Specialties, and Hands On Physical Therapy for their compassionate care of David in his time of need.
In lieu of flowers, material contributions may be made to the Mt. Carmel Society, 102 Washington Street, Lowellville, Ohio 44436 in his memory.
