Struthers - David E. Rearick, 94, died Saturday afternoon, February 23, 2013 at the Hospice House.
Mr. Rearick was born June 7, 1918 in Jefferson County, PA, a son of Ralph and Annabelle Himes Rearick. He came to the Youngstown area at the age of 17.
Mr. Rearick worked for Sharon Steel, retiring in 1980 after 43 years of service. A United States Marine Corps. veteran, Mr. Rearick served during World War II.
In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, and golfing.
David leaves his wife, the former Ruth A. Massie, whom he married on August 23, 1939; four daughters, Judy Chako of Struthers, Donna (Harry) Smith of Dallas, TX, Sandy (Ralph) Sandy of Struthers, and Dee Dee (Bill) Johnson of Struthers; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild expected in July.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Rearick was preceded in death by his sister, Evie Bobella; two brothers, Don and Dick Rearick; and his son-in-law, Frank Chako.
Services will be held Tuesday at 12:45 p.m. at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home in Struthers, where family and friends will be received from noon until the time of service.
Mrs. Rearick wants to send a special thanks to Dr. Bhargava Ravi and his staff, the Hospice House, and her wonderful family for all the care and comfort they provided to her husband.
The family requests that memorial gifts take the form of contributions in Mr. Rearick's name to the Hospice House, 9803 Sharrott Road, Poland, Ohio 44514.
