David Peterson

Edinburg - David Peterson, 90, died early Tuesday morning, October 20, 2015 at his home.

Mr. Peterson was born June 25, 1925 in Edinburg, PA, a son of Walter and Martha Schmidt Peterson.

Mr. Peterson began working at the age of 16 for Sharon Steel, then Carbon Limestone, and retired as a journeyman electrician from Wean United in 1986.

He was a social member of the Struthers V.F.W. No. 3538, St. Anthony's Club, the Johnson Club, and the Mt. Carmel Society. In his earlier years, Mr. Peterson enjoyed working on the farm, raising both animals and crops, and loved sharing his harvest with family and friends.

His wife, the former Renia Howard, whom he married June 2, 1946, preceded him in death on June 7, 2007. He is survived by two daughters, Marsha (Matt) Luc of Coitsville and Susan (Jim) Buchanan of Edinburg; three sons, David (Ruth) Peterson of Fort Myers, FL, Russell (Tammy) Peterson of Naples, FL, and Keith (Chris) Peterson of Lowellville; daughter-in-law, Diane Kriwox Peterson of Kennerdell, PA; two sisters, Martha Dando of Edinburg and Ruth (Tom) Patterson of Columbiana; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Peterson; three sisters, Alice Edwards, Nellie Murray, and Carrie Smolko; four brothers, Walter, Samuel, Earl, and John Peterson; and a grandson, Jeremy Buchanan.

Family and friends will be received on Thursday from 5-7 p.m. and Friday from 10-10:45 a.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, 244 McGill St., Lowellville.

A funeral service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions in Mr. Peterson's name to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St., Boardman, Ohio 44512.
