Poland - David Marvin McKenney, 74 of Poland, died Sunday, January 9, 2011 at his residence surrounded by his family.
He was born December 31, 1936 in Layland, WV, a son of Orland and Bernice Ferguson McKenney.
Mr. McKenney attended Woodrow Wilson High School and Penn Ohio College. He worked for over 25 years as a Machine Operator for Commercial Intertech. Dave enjoyed music, especially folk music and chord-melody jazz, He was a guitarist and taught guitar lessons for many years throughout the area. He was a member of the NRA, and enjoyed target shooting, photography, and received many awards for his photos. He loved the outdoors, and enjoyed antique cars.
Mr. McKenney is survived by his wife of 55 years, the former Carol Thomas, whom he married June 5, 1955.
He is survived by three sons, David McKenney of Poland, Daniel (Joy) McKenney of Canfield, and Derek (Kimberly) McKenney of Canfield; two grandchildren, Samuel (Tricia) McKenney of Avon Lake and Joshua McKenney of Canfield; and two sisters, Carla Beck of Pittsburgh, and Nancy Gay of Austintown.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Alfred Whitt, Dennis McKenney and Orland E. McKenney Jr.
Family and friends will be received Thursday from 6:00-7:00 pm at the Cunningham Becker Funeral Home in Poland, where a memorial service will be held at 7:00 PM.
