Struthers - David P. Maloney, Sr., 90, died early Wednesday morning, November 11, 2015 at Maplecrest Nursing Home in Struthers.
David was born September 26, 1925 in Lowellville, a son of George and Nellie Stevenson Maloney.
Mr. Maloney worked as a brick layer for Sharon Steel for 39 years, retiring in 1988.
A proud veteran, Mr. Maloney served in the United States Army during World War II. He served in the 101st Airborne Division from December of 1943 until his honorable discharge in January of 1946 with the rank of Private First Class.
David's hobbies included collecting model trains, watching old military movies, and helping family and friends with their home projects. He was a member of Christ Our Savior Parish at St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church in Struthers and the American Legion No. 247.
His wife, the former Josephine M. Cuteri, whom he married August 28, 1948, preceded him in death on March 7, 2012. He is survived by his two children, Diane (Mark) Davis of West Palm Beach, FL and David (Margaret) Maloney Jr. of Struthers; brother, Merle Maloney of Lake Milton; two grandchildren, David (Mandy) Maloney and Jennifer Rankin; and two great-grandchildren, Fiona Claire and Orion Morgan.
In addition to his parents and wife, David was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Sinchok and Margaret O'Connell; and two brothers, George Pennell and Jack Maloney.
A prayer service will be held Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, 11 Spring, St., Struthers, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Green Haven Memorial Gardens, Canfield.
Friends will be received Friday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
