Boardman - David Jay Leedy, 77, died Saturday afternoon, December 9, 2017 at Hospice of the Valley's Hospice House.
Dave was born April 6, 1940 in Youngstown, a son of the late Jay and Isabel Davies Leedy.
A lifelong area resident, he was a 1958 graduate of South High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served four years stateside. While serving, he had the opportunity to drive in the inauguration parade for President John F. Kennedy. Upon his discharge, he returned to the area and worked as a machinist for Youngstown Steel Door and retired from American Paper.
Dave loved being outdoors and took advantage of living near Mill Creek Park. He enjoyed daily walks through the park with his best buddy, Charlie the golden retriever. Dave will always be remembered for his strong work ethic, his creativity, and ability to fix most anything.
His wife, the former Judy Murray, whom he married May 7, 1966, preceded him in death on August 10, 1983. He is survived by his children, Susan Leedy of Worthington and Jay Leedy of Boardman; twin sister, Alice (Tim) Brown of North Carolina and sister Gail (Frank) Gunger of Canfield; and a grandson, Justin Leedy of Boardman.
Per Dave's request, there will be no calling hours. A private service was held for the family.
In honor of Dave's love for animals, memorial tributes may take the form of contributions to Angels for Animals, 4750 State Route 165, Canfield, Ohio 44406.
