Austintown - David R. Fitz-Patrick, Jr., 70, of Austintown, died Thursday morning, June 30, 2011 at his home.
Dave was born September 13, 1940 in Youngstown, a son of David and Norma McCreery Fitz-Patrick.
He was a graduate of the first graduating class out of Cardinal Mooney High School, where he was a member of their football team. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving from February of 1961 until being honorably discharged in July of 1965. He served in the Strategic Air Command in England.
Dave worked for Delphi Packard Electric for 33 years, retiring in 2003. At one time, he also worked for CE Refractories and Youngstown Steel Door.
He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church.
Dave was loved by all the children in his family, who affectionately referred to him as "Uncle Teeth." In his spare time, he loved tending to his yard and was famous for his well manicured lawn and landscaping. He also enjoyed golfing with family and friends when he got the opportunity.
In addition to his mother, Norma Fitz-Patrick of Boardman, Dave leaves his wife, the former Marilyn J. Hinton, whom he married July 27, 1968; daughter, Christine Fitz-Patrick of Austintown; two sons, David S. Fitz-Patrick of Austintown and Sean (Deanna Palmer) Fitz-Patrick of Boardman; sister, Shannon Fitz-Patrick of Hubbard; three brothers, Kevin (Carol) Fitz-Patrick of Fort Myers, FL, Duane Fitz-Patrick of Cleveland, and Jim (Regina) Fitz-Patrick of Naples, FL; two grandchildren, twins, Kaleigh and Aiden Fitz-Patrick; sister-in-law, Karen Fitz-Patrick of Austintown; many loving nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews; and numerous caring and supportive friends.
He was preceded in death by his father and a sister-in-law, Darlene Fitz-Patrick.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 4490 Norquest Blvd, Austintown. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
Family and friends will be received on Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at the Davis-Becker Funeral Home, 4996 Market St. in Boardman and Wednesday from 10-10:45 a.m. at the church prior to the Mass.
Dave's family would like to express their appreciation and thank his caregiver, Danielle McIntyre and Hospice of the Valley for their compassion and wonderful care given to him.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions in Mr. Fitz-Patrick's name to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St., Boardman, Ohio 44512.
