David R. Cornell

David R. Cornell, 58 CANFIELD-David R. Cornell, 58, 0f 7783 Memory Lane died Sunday evening at Beeghly Medical Center. Mr. Cornell was born April 5, 1944 in Glens Falls, New York, son of Junius and Isabelle Richardson Cornell. He received his Bachelors Degree in Mathematics from the University of Vermont in 1966 and certificate in Physical Therapy from Duke University in 1967. In 1973 he received his Masters Degree in Finance and Health Care Administration from University of South Carolina and in 1986 received his Ph.D. in Business Administration from Columbia Pacific University. Mr. Cornell was an independent health care consultant after retiring in the year 2000 from a 25 year career as Health Care Administrator. He was President and CEO of New England Medical Center International from 1997-2000, Albany Medical Center from 1991-1994, Western Reserve Care Center in Youngstown from 1988-1991 and Montana Deaconess Medical Center from 1979-1988. Mr. Cornell was Chief Operating Officer of the New England Medical Center from 1996-1997 and Administrator and CEO of the North Ridge General Hospital in Fort Lauderdale, Florida from 1975-1979. He was a member of the Fellow American College of Healthcare Executives, Fellow American Academy of Medical Administrators and the Association of Academic Health Centers. He served on a variety of health care boards, one of them being the American Red Cross. From 1968-1969 he served as 1st Lt. For the United States Army as Administrative Officer and Director of Physical Therapy at the USAHSTC 100 bed military receiving hospital. Mr. Cornell was a member of the Memorial Baptist Church in Poland. Besides his wife the former Alma Files whom he married December 16,1967, he leaves two daughters, Kim(William) Farley of Struthers and Kelly Cornell of Kansas City Missouri; and two grandchildren, Julie and Adam Farley. Funeral services will be Thursday 10:00AM at the Cunningham âa�"Becker Funeral Home, Poland. Friends may call Wednesday from 6-8PM and Thursday from 9:00-9:45AM at the funeral home.
