Youngstown - David A. Cook, 51, of Austintown, died Wednesday morning at his home.
David was born November 6, 1959 in Youngstown, a son of the late Paul and Anna Mae Baker Cook.
A 1978 graduate of Lowellville High School, David entered into the Coast Guard. He did his basic training in Cape May, NJ and specialized training in Petaluma, CA. He was a Food Specialist One and his first assignment was in Portsmouth, Virginia where he served on the Taney. He later served in Buffalo, NY, Twin Rivers, Wisconsin, Cape May, NJ, and then New Haven, CT for the rest of his tour. He retired from the Coast Guard in October 2003 and returned to the area and became associated with the Bob Evans in Austintown.
David enjoyed fishing with his brother-in-law Gary. He loved sports and was coached by his father and brother, Paul in Little League Baseball, and was a huge fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Lakers.
David leaves three children, Kristina, David. and Jeffrey, and two grandchildren, all of Buffalo, NY; three sisters, Anna Cook and Charlotte Hudach both of Boardman, and Bonnie Tyler of New Bern, NC; one brother, Paul Cook of Pulaski, PA; his loving companion for over seven years, Anna Judkins of Austintown.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday 2:00 PM at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Lowellville, with Chaplain Jay Eastman officiating.
Friends will be received Saturday from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, David's family requests memorial contributions in honor of David to go to the American Heart Association, 840 Southwestern Run
