Lowellville- Dave "Ace" Ralph Wilson, 76, died Wednesday evening, September 4, 2013 at his daughter's home, surrounded by his family.
Dave, affectionately known by many as "Ace," was born September 21, 1936 in Youngstown, a son of Henry and Miriam (Davis) Wilson.
Mr. Wilson was raised in Lowellville and attended Lowellville High School. He was a lifelong resident of Lowellville until recently moving to Boardman in April of this year. Ace loved his hometown and was proud to be a part of the Lowellville community.
Dave first worked for General Fireproofing for 28 years, then for Youngstown Foundry, and retired from BFI, where he worked in security.
He was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church in Lowellville. His hobbies including playing the lottery, coaching Little League Baseball and All-Star Baseball Teams when his children where in school, playing bocce for the MVR League, and watching football.
Dave was devoted to his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and his dog Babe, who passed away in July.
He leaves his wife, the former June Colaneri, whom he married October 18, 1955; son, David (Betsy) Wilson of Lowellville; two daughters, Bonnie (Marc) Esposito of Boardman and Carrie (Robert) Ingram of Waxhaw, NC; nine grandchildren, Marc (fiancée Elizabeth Russell) Esposito, Candice (Marc) Osborne, Lindsay (Tom) Peluso, Michael (Ashley) Wilson, Casey (William) Slaven, Matthew Wilson, Tara Wilson, Alyssa Ingram, and Kylee Ingram; three great-grandchildren, Austin Wilson, Isabella Osborne, and Dominic Wilson; daughter-in-law, Patti Wilson of Struthers; step mother-in-law, Nevada Colaneri of Lowellville; sisters-in-law, Debra (James) Sheely and Sharon Noble, both of Glendale, AZ; brothers-in-law, Jerry (Renett) Colaneri of Lowellville, James (Ellen) Pence of Austintown, and Thomas (Doris) Pence of Newnan, GA; uncle and aunt, Robert and Diane Wilson of Brookfield; and godfather and best friend of 60+ years, Fred Nolfi of Lowellville.
In addition to his parents, Dave was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Elizabeth Wilson; son, Douglas Wilson; mother-in-law and step-father-in-law, Helen and George Saad; father-in-law, Alfonso Colaneri; three sisters-in-law, Norma Minteer, Helene Rotz and her husband, Charlie, and Mary Colaneri; and brother-in-law, Jack Noble.
A prayer service will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Lowellville, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church. Interment will be in Lowellville Cemetery.
Family and friends will be received on Sunday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
